The Tellington TTouch® Method

Helping Animals Unleash their Fabulous Potential

What is Tellington TTouch?

Created by internationally renowned author and teacher, Linda Tellington-Jones, the Tellington TTouch® Method is a unique and gentle approach to help animals feel better physically, mentally and emotionally. This wonderful way of working with animals meets them wherever they are and seeks to bring them back into balance physically, mentally and emotionally.
TTouch enhances an animal’s body awareness and promotes a sense of safety and trust. That helps improve the health and behavior of pets as well as their relationships with guardians and others.

Four Important Aspects of TTouch:

  • TTouch® Bodywork consists of a variety of light pressure circular touches, strokes and gentle lifts performed at the skin’s surface with mindfulness and focused attention. Working on a cellular level and also deeply affecting the central nervous system, TTouch bodywork helps animals relax and promotes healing.
  • TTouch® Equipment and Tools are another important ingredient in working with animals. They consist of a variety of items to help a dog regain balance, walk more comfortably, stop pulling on lead, barking excessively and overreacting to outside stimuli. They can include TTouch® wraps, special harnesses, leads, head collars and more. Wraps can be put on cats and other animals as well.

  • The TTouch® Confidence Course is another important part of the Tellington TTouch Method. Simple objects such as boards, poles, cones and an array of surfaces are used to offer a pet a variety of new sensations and obstacles to navigate through. Within a TTouch® labyrinth, the centerpiece of the course, dogs gain confidence and balance, while moving slowly and purposefully, stopping at strategic points and receiving TTouches and praise for their good work.
  • The TTouch® Philosophy is perhaps the most important ingredient of this work and provides the special foundation upon which all else rests. It advocates the kindest ways of working with animals to meet them wherever they are, help them feel safe and build their confidence and trust. It also holds out the idea of the “perfection of your pet” and works to unleash that extraordinary potential.

My Miracle Tellington TTouch® Session with Murry

There have been so many miraculous results with this amazing way of working with animals. Working with a beautiful, but very fearful Australian shepherd dog named Murry was among my most heartwarming TTouch experiences. I called Murry my miracle TTouch dog.
Murry had a terrible fear of thunderstorms and would pace and then try to dig through carpeting during thunderstorms. During our TTouch session, although a severe thunderstorm was raging, he was able to lie down, stay calm and even enjoy some TTouch body work. He was wearing a TTouch wrap to help bring awareness to his body and a TTouch calming band to help bring awareness to his mouth. The wrap also helped him feel more grounded and secure.
His open mouth and ability to lie down during this fierce storm showed a dramatic shift in his behavior. Encouraging Murry to walk around the house during the storm also helped to release some much-needed endorphins to help him feel better. The TTouch wrap had clearly helped greatly.

Tellington TTouch Package of Sessions for Pets

Rev. Donna is offering a package of three Tellington TTouch sessions for your pet to gain the most benefit from this work. These sessions will be done in person. The first session is 1.5 hours where Rev. Donna will do an assessment of your pet’s needs and begin doing body work on your pet. As she is doing it, she will also teach you how to do whatever body work she is doing.
Depending on the needs and disposition of your pet, a confidence course may be used on the first visit or started on the second visit. In addition to teaching you about the Tellington TTouches, Rev. Donna will also discuss equipment possibilities to help your dog feel better and that can also offer greater handling ease for you.
